Saturday Doings
I'm listening to the end of You've Got Mail, where Tom Hanks tells Meg Ryan, "Don't cry, Shop Girl." That's my favorite part. I always cry when I see that - it seems so real, and Tom Hanks seems so caring and loving, and Meg is so cute. How romantic! Sigh...
Life is so funny in the way portrayed in that movie: she'd just lost her shop that she had inherited from her mom, that she would pass on to her future daughter, that held so many memories for her; but she went on with her life and nurtured a little hope for happiness. Suddenly, everything changed. Just that quick, her best friend turned out to be her best friend!
That reminds me of how we have blessings coming that we don't realize, and how we should take heart and "keep on swimming."
Yesterday Mark and I drove downtown to New York, New York. We went inside buildings resembling the New York skyline, including the Statue of Liberty. Inside, there were casinos and shops and places to eat. We got fish and chips from Fulton's Fish Shop (the fish was wonderful!) and, for dessert, we each got a Krispy Kreme donut, from a little snack shop.
Inside one of the buildings, they had a glass lion enclosure with a huge tree, rocks and a waterfall. Three lions were playing right in front of us, while their trainers stood nearby. They had numerous plastic balls they were chewing on and tossing, and they would roll on their backs just like Tut, with their giant paws in the air. So cute! And beautiful, too.
We also saw lots of really tall ladies (maybe models or showgirls) and fancy jewelry, sports places with tons of screens covering horse racing and football, basketball, and other sports, for betting. We saw a Statue of Liberty made out of jelly beans, we got some gummy candy, and we saw all these building inside, made like apartments and markets and stores from the 1930's. They had curtains and lighted lamps, decor, and kitties in the windows. The streets were cobblestone and it felt just like people were living in the bldgs.!
And we saw a huge rollercoaster that went inside and outside the buildings. It was so cool!
When we left, Mark dropped me off at T.J. Maxx and Home Goods, and I looked around for more than an hour. What a fun day!
Tell me about your Saturday. : )

That sounds like such a fun day! The fish and krispy kreme donuts sound so good, and I'm really jealous that you live so close to TJ Maxx and Home Goods.
Our Saturday could NOT have been more lame. I tried to hem Hunter's pants, and they turned out looking like ruffly bell-bottoms! I totally ruined them! And THEN, I can't believe I did the same thing, I tried to make a shirt smaller so I could wear it, and I ended up sewing and cutting and ruining that one too! And then I returned all of my craft stuff for decorating projects that I suddenly didn't want to pay so much money for. Fun, huh? :)
How fun! It's so neat to have someone in the family living in a big city with so much to look at and do. You could see new things for a year and probably still not see it all!
Your gummies sounds good.
What did we do? Ummmm.....We took the kids to the library and then stopped at Wal-Mart to get the fabric to recover a bench.
Then last night we fixed the bench up in the living room and got it all set up under the dining room window.
We also worked on violin. Aiden and i have contests and Brooks judges us. So far we each win about half of the time. I love practicing on his violin and we both now know three little songs.
Hmmm. I know we did more than that.
Brooks and Aiden practiced using an air soft gun and Aiden made little dents in the wall in our room.
We had the kids help clean up last night so it wasn't messy today. Which was nice because we had missionaries and a mexican guy from church follow us home from church for lunch.
I can't remember what else!
I'm jeleous you live so close to a TJ Maxx and Homegoods too! Especially the Home Goods. I bet it is a good one there too, with it being a big city.
Haley, I've ruined clothes doing that before too! I guess it just takes practice. I think it is hard to get a hem to look normal and not like a homemade job.
Noodle, you need to come visit us!!!
You too, Bailers!
Wow! I am so far behind on your posts that I don'e know where to start!! Everything sounds so fun adn it is sofun to see pictures of you singing karaoke!! Who would have believed it! Your Saturday adventures are so random and interesting, seeing tigers and tall ladies and roller coasters in buildings! I still love hearing about what you eat! It sounds so fun to have salads available all the time and to not have to worry about what you are going to make for everyone else!! I also love the picture of Tut and am glad to see that he is still the same!!
For our Saturday we were really tired, did some cleaning, spent too long and too much money at Wal-Mart, went to a kids' birhtday party from 3-5 (it was really fun and cute)had dinner, cleaned and Danny and I were in bbed before 10 pm! I told you we were tired! I think that's all! Maybe someday I will finish the post I have been working on. And pray that I will find my camera, too!
So fun to read what you guys are up to. Love all the pictures.
