This is a picture (above) of protesters in Las Vegas
They were holding signs in support of the Egyptians against Mubarak
History in action!
We saw them today, on our way to see the pawn shop that is featured
in the tv series, Pawn Stars, on The History Channel.
It was fun, and one of the goals I've had for here in Vegas.
We didn't see the actual guys, but they had a lot of cool jewelry,
artwork, old cash registers, old guitars, knives, firearms, and other things.
They also had a bunch of souvenir stuff, mostly saying
I Love Chumley.
There was a wide line down the block, waiting to enter,
but the weather was perfect and we didn't mind.
We saw a couple of super-long limos coming out of the parking lot.
Maybe they pawn their stuff there?
Or buy things from them and send the chauffeur
in the limo to pick it up.
That seems more likely.
Their stuff was pretty expensive,
probably since they've gotten famous.
I loved looking around in there!
Afterwards, Mark took me to Michael's, where I got some pens
and a notebook and some jewelry pliers. Came to $8 and something.
Then we came home and I ate some olives and cole slaw
and blue cheese from the salad bar,
and then Mark made us ice cream sodas.
Yum!
We haven't done much this past week, besides watching a movie
on Tuesday night with DeeDee, Julie and Jeff.
It was Sherlock Holmes.
Pretty good, but not a favorite of mine.
We had fun anyway.
So the pictures below are from the pawn shop and last week at New York New York.
Some are of the roller coaster outside of it.
Isn't it high?
Also, the lions I told you about.
They're so cute, aren't they?

This last picture could almost be a post card, couldn't it?
Thanks for reading!

That roller coaster is crazy high! Scary. And if I was a lion I think I'd like to take my chances in the jungle instead of living in Las Vegas! Although, they do look happy. It's just kind of funny how in the picture you can see all the people staring at them. It reminds me of the movie Madagascar!
It is so neat that there is soooo much to see and do right where you live! And the weather is nice too.
Megan, yes! I always think of the last line in Meet Me in St. Louis, where Judy Garland says that the World Exposition/Fair is "...right here, in our own back yard!"
I say that to Mark all the time - we are so lucky to live where there are sooo many fun and interesting things. There are natural wonders and amazing things you can see, just a tiny drive away!
Also, I'm sure the lions weren't kept in the enclosure all the time; maybe certain times each day. They had more room than it shows in the picture, and there were six or more trainers/handlers standing around, too.
