Saturday, August Something or Other - Groceries!

Hi. We went grocery shopping together. It's my first time to really grocery shop in forever! It's cold outside, so Leto got to come in the car with us, and it was more fun shopping. You know, that fall feeling. Even though I know it's not fall yet, it was so nice to get that cozy, home-fires burning feeling. These are the things I picked out myself - For food storage, to satisfy my need to feel like we'll have some flavor when we make cardboard soup, I got a can of black beans, a can of coconut milk, 2 bars of medium-hot curry, a package of peanut sauce seasoning, some dry mustard, and I think that's all of that. Then, just to get some regular food things, I picked out - 3 avocadoes Raw almonds from the bulk bins Stuff for homemade vegetable soup A carton of carrot-ginger soup A carton of curry-something soup Some garlic-herb pretzel crackers Vegetable dip mix (for the crackers - I would've gotten cucumbers, but I forget about them in the refrigerator and they spoil!) Snyder's honey-mustard and onion pretzel pieces (are we seeing a theme here?) (Yum! I'm eating some of our bag-grown cherry tomatoes) Mark picked up stuff for homemade chicken noodle soup, too. Sounds like we will have some delicious meals this week, doesn't it? Oh, and Mark got bananas to make more banana-nut bread. It's great to freeze in small loaves and give out to people who need a pick-me-up. I remember being hungry all the time, and fantasizing about food with the kids, so I always enjoy getting groceries. I hope you can have as much fun with it yourselves! PS After you comment on this post (pretty please!), be sure and check out my Friday post, too. It's getting lonely. ;)

Your food sounds so good! Especially the homemade chicken noodle soup and banana bread. We went to the store tonight too. We picked out 2 notebooks for Aiden and Brooks (Brooks' for his primary class he teaches and Aiden's to do letters), a pack of pencils and sharpener for Aiden, 2 of those roundish sausage things, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, peanut butter, honey and.... I think that's all. Not too exciting. Oh, yur garlic crackers sound good too!

I LOVE your descriptions of all of the food you bought. It all sounds so good and homey and cozy. We went grocery shopping a couple of days ago (with our new food stamps- hurray!!!) and we got lots of yummy food that we've been wanting for forever. We even bought ribs (something we've never been able to afford), and we bought strawberries, blueberries, stuff to make homemade rolls that are so good, healthy cereal, organic tomato soup, and that's all I can remember. I agree, it seems like it's fall outside because it's kind of chilly in the air. I love it though! I just wish that didn't mean winter was around the corner. I can't think about that. :) Right now, Dallin is feeding Hunter his first BOTTLE! And Hunter seems to enjoy it! I pumped and measured exactly how much he needs so he doesn't overeat (the little oinker). We're preparing to go to church for the first time with Hunter. I think we'll only take him for Sacrament meeting this week and see how it goes. If we even make it to that. :) It's a LOT harder to go anywhere when you have to plan around feeding, spit-up, and diapers!

P.S. Nevermind, right after I said that Hunter is doing well with the bottle, he burped and then spit up EVERYTHING he ate all over Dallin. Oh how fun. At least he isn't crying at the moment. :)

I love soup weather. I always make double batches of soup and freeze gallon bags of the soup for later use... like those nights when I don't feel like cooking. Thanks for the reminder that sometimes grocery shopping can be a pleasure, I can almost enjoy it when I don't have little voices begging for all the junk food so conveniently placed at their eye-level!
