Here are some pictures of some finished and some unfinished areas/projects - And this doesn't even begin to cover it! Bet you can't guess which ones are which!
We're coming up on the final deadlines for fair entries. My entries would be due today or tomorrow. Mark's would be on Wednesday, and Mark's been working so much, he really needs to bake today. I, on the other hand, don't have anything in particular ready to enter, and we can't afford the gasoline for a run to Blackfoot anyway. Pretty simple decision.
Later on:
Mark was able to bake his German Chocolate cake today; he also baked wheat bread, but he's going to make some changes and redo them, and he made blueberry muffins. He's already done his brownies (they may go in 'bar cookies'), strawberry cheesecake, and banana bread.
Then he'll see about doing cookies and a two-crust pie, if he has enough time and energy. That would enter him in the Four Star Baker category, too. I want him to enter that for fun!
That's six categories that I know of, and he can enter some in two classes - Open and Men's, so he'd get some extra ribbons if he won in the Men's classes. That might go up to eight or more categories, plus the Men's. It's exciting!
By next year I want to have flowers to enter (somehow!) and some artwork done. I do have a clay sculpture and an altered book I could enter this year, but they're not what I'm hoping to enter next year.
The State Fair is a great family tradition!
ps Melinda, I'm listening to your blog while I'm typing this. It's very relaxing!

I like seeing the pictures of some of you finished and unfinished projects! Whenever I go to your house, there are so many cute little details that I want to steal for my own!
I'm so glad that Doc is entering things in the fair!! I think it makes it soo much funner! I miss seeing your roses in it, too. And I would love to show Sprat again, but the last time I did that you lost your legs! So I guess I won't go buy him back just for the fair.
And I'm glad the music is relaxing to you. I love that song and have listened to it about 50 times today. I still love it!
Wow,, Doc is really baking a lot! I hope he wins some, so that it feels more worth his time and energy, and so that he is motivated to do it again next year. I liked all of your pictures. You have lots of projects going on too! I'm real excited to see everyone tomorrow at the baby blessing, and then again next week for Hunter's blessing! Speaking of Hunteroony, he just had a bath and he smells like a wittle bundly baby. He still cries through his whole bath. Poor poopsy. I figure the more often I bathe him, the more he will learn to like it. Also, did I tell you he now weighs 9 lbs 6 oz.? Yep, and he's grown two inches too! See ya soon!
I love it when people people put pictures of their almost done projects too, and not just the done ones! Plus, since we are so far away this is the only glimpse we get into what you have been doing around there. Thanks for showing you projects! So, Doc sounds like a busy fair baking man! We would love to be his taste testers again, and Brooks keep asking for updated recipes from Doc for bread, etc. He knows that Doc is always improving and changing them. Ahhh, the fair. So many fun fair memories! I love that so many in our family have been able to enter stuff in it before, and I'm so glad Doc is keeping the tradition alive. Brooks and I need to find a good fair here. They've had a few around here but no one we knew went to them and we were still in a coma, I mean transition. Yes, I feel like we spent the summer in comas and now we have emerged and are wondering, "Where did our summer go?!"
So, good luck, Docaroo, at the fair! I hope you make a pie crust and get to enter lots of categories. But mostly I hope you win the big mixer this year! Are you entering those recipes so you have a chance?
laters, Noodleys!
