Hello! Well, I guess you all know about Brooks' and Megan's new baby - she's so precious! You can see pictures on Face Book.:) I'm so excited for them to have a new family member, and also to use all those ways they prepared for Sabriel. :)
I had such a bad Friday (and Thursday)! Japan had a huge earthquake, in case you didn't know, but that wasn't the main problem for me...it just added to my general anxiety, caused by not sleeping, which was caused by terrible neuropathy pain. I know, that is a teensy problem compared to people dealing with a disaster, but it was truly awful. The sleeplessness makes the neuropathy worse, which makes the sleeplessness worse, and so it goes. Yikes!!
I finally slept some on Saturday a.m. and that helped so much! Good thing, because that was Mark's birthday! We had so much fun on his birthday. First, we went to Best Buy and got a simple little Kodak camera that was on sale. It's memory card has a thousand pics, so I won't run out. Isn't that cool? I found out from Megan's friends that visited Idaho that that's what they had, and they were right. For my purposes, I don't need fancy.
Then, we went to Wal Mart and bought three 5-gallon gas cans, oil, antifreeze, and drinking water. We're trying to get ready to at least make it out of the desert, should we have a big disaster or social/economic breakdown. With the car's tank full and the extra 15 gals., we should be able to make it to Idaho. That's such a relief to have that much done, at least.
We also got two shirts for Mark for his birthday. Then we went to see The King's Speech, the first movie we've seen this year. It was quite good, but I was disappointed with the gross misrepresentation of Edward and Wallis who were painted as complete, idiotic villains. There were many historical inaccuracies pertaining to them and the abdication. The leads were all wonderful in their roles and I loved the period costumes and sets.
After the movie, we got sandwiches (the movie theater was in Red Rocks Casino) at Capriotti's sandwich shop and we watched a roulette table for about 20 mins. Then we picked up Dove bars at the convenience store near our residence and went on home. Doesn't that sound fun?
Congratulations on the new baby, Haroldsens, and good night all!

I forgot to call Doc on his birthday, so I'm glad you guys made it a special day! Poor Doc, I hope at least ONE of us kids remembered to call him! We've been wanting to see the King's Speech, so I'm glad to hear it was good.
And thanks for saying the picture of Sabriel is on facebook, I never get on facebook so I would have never known!
I hope you're feeling better! I will be calling you soon just to chat and tell you all the crazy, funny things Hunter's been doing. We love you!
Boy! I am so behind, but I'm sure you're used to it!! I love all the food you get!! Mmm... Olive Garden sounded delicious!! I will have to call Doc and tell him Happy Birthday!! His birthday sounded so fun! It reminds me of when Danny and I were first married and we would have a day off together. It was so fun to go and do whatever we wanted! But we love this time in our lives, too. All so different, each great in its own way. All the old pictures were great and made me laugh. It is amazing how looking at old pics and reading your old journals makes you realize how silly you were then to worry or fret and how obvious it is that God is guiding our lives. We are really so blessed. Even in difficult times. So, my words I aspire to- Umm.. I have to think for a minute- kind, grateful, adaptable (I'm working on that one), intelligent, patient, wise (able to help others), a strength to others, loving, non-judgmental, positive and optimistic, and I do like the word authentic. I want to be a good mother and wife most of all, and to help others, and to make a fun, happy life for my family, despite what is going on in the world. We always made our own little world, didn't we? And then you can fill it with all the good things in life and magic and wonder and enchantment. And pretty music. Thanks for keeping us updated on everything! Love you!
Melinda, I love adaptable and non-judgmental, as well as your other words. Also, I like what you said about creating your own little world: I have to believe that
a good childhood home stands a person in good stead the rest of his/her life!
Happy Birthday to Doc!!!! Brooks saw your facebook post about his birthday, but I was in the hospital with the baby and didn't get to call. Although, I probably talked to you that day. :/
His birthday sounds fun, and it's great that you got the gas and stuff to get to Idaho!
By the way, what does your car look like? You should take a picture with your new camera and show us. Is it a good car?
