Weekend

Hi! So glad you are reading my blog! In my last post, I tagged you, so please respond, and I will love you even more! Saturday night was our ward potluck and talent show. I had promised Melinda I'd do some standup comedy, and I actually did it! I was all over the place, rather than collected, but I did it, and that was what counted. It was also good for me, being totally willing to make a fool of myself, and boy did I succeed in that! I realized later that I didn't know a bunch of the audience, so I'm not sure they'll be returning for another potluck (jk), but other people seemed to enjoy my jokes about being a parent, a grandma, and finding my "voice" while singing. I sang a line of Santa Lucia, a line of Country-style, and a line of Folk-style. The last thing I did was an entire song that I wrote long ago. Sometimes I looked out at the audience and their faces were so funny. They were totally unaware of their facial expressions and I would lose it, laughing about that. However, I noticed later that I did the same thing - I paid no attention to what I was doing as an audience member, and I probably looked just as funny. Tristan and Alex played piano, too, and they did a great job. There was plenty of food, and, even though the venue had to be switched at the last minute (for an unscheduled wedding), the crowd was relaxed and we had fun. Dallin and Haley and Hunter were there, as well as Ben, Linda, Josh and Beth. Beth has grown so much and is so cute! Her eyes are like Joshes, but she's her own little fat self. Linda said she's making talking noises now. Melinda and Danny and family were there; they'd spent all day dealing with the change in location and contacting others, and worked all through the evening, besides bringing lots of food. Everyone seemed to have fun, and Irelyn fell asleep on my chest at the end, so I loved that! The grandkids were all delightful, and it was great to spend more time with family members. Dallin and family had spent most of the day with Mark and me: Dallin did all the wiring to bring 220(?) down the hall to the activities kitchen. That made it possible to bring an oven/range there; it had been just sitting in a little, unused break room at the front. Now if they can bring a refrigerator that works, that would be great! Family gatherings, cooking classes, and birthday parties all take place in the activity room, and they need those appliances. It's a miracle that Dallin accomplished that and that the stove is in place now! Mark is excited to have a stove nearby, too (the apts. have teeny refrigerators and we have a microwave, so that's a little limiting for someone who can cook for themselves - Mark in definitelynot the typical resident!) We went to Lucy's Pizza for lunch, which serves wonderful, simple pizzas with olive and pickle appetizers, drizzled with an olive oil dressing. Yum! Hunter acted like he was just one of the grownups, with a sideways grin on his face. He cracked me up. Today we went to church, but I had to depart to the car after Sacrament mtg., due to falling asleep in church. I slept in the car until after Mark's lesson, when he drove me home. I loved getting to go, even for a short while. Tristan and Alaina took turns sitting on my lap, and I got a hug from Josh. When we got back home, the new chef/cook at had made such a beautiful meal: roast chicken with a lime slice, little cubes of sweet pepper, and parsley adornments, two beautiful spears of asparagus, and pasta noodles. On the side was spinach drizzled in a blueberry vinaigrette and rainbow sherbet. So colorful and delicious! Oh, and Saturday we got a letter from the home health agency my aide, Misty, works for. May 1st they are stopping business! I'll keep Misty as a friend, but I'll miss her so. I hope your weekend has been pleasant - let me know! Take care! xoxoxo

That's awful that Misty's home health place is closing! Haven't you had her for a long time? I've only ever heard wonderful things about her! (Which can't always be said for other aides from the past.)
Your weekend sounds fun, especially the talent show part. So nice that you and Trisy and Alex were able to each do something, and that Haley and Dallin got to spend so much time with the family!

I"m so sad that Misty won't be able to help you anymore! She is the best aide you've had probably, don't you think?
That was a really wonderful Saturday, and thank you for the delicious lunch and for the fried chicken you sent home with us! We're eating it for dinner tonight, and Dallin took it for his lunch today too. Yummy! It was really nice spending so much time with you, and now when we move I'll be extra sad because I've gotten so used to seeing you at least once a week. Wahh! I'm so glad Hunter has gotten to know you and Doc. Now we always asks, "Can we go visit Grandma Doc? Where's her feet?" Hahaha.

On my comment above, I meant to say, "now HE always asks" if he can go visit you.
And I thought your stand-up comedy routine was funny and entertaining, and your opera voice woke everyone up and they all started cheering (I don't know if you remember that, it's hard to hear the audience when you're on stage)! It was overall just a really fun performance and I'm proud of you for doing it! Very bwave.
