Mark and I were cheering on the Boston-area and Watertown and other law enforcement/military as they did whatever was necessary to catch the bombers this past week. They did an outstanding job, it seems to us, and we applaud them for it. There was no dilly-dallying or hesitation on their part, yet they managed to keep a suspect alive; that must have been very tricky, given how weaponized they were.
And good for the sharp-eyed citizen who noticed an open shed door that had been closed by police, after their check of it. She also noticed blood and blood-stained clothes nearby, then called the authorities, who got right on it.
The media seemed to be respectful and staying out of the way, for the most part. And when the cities were shut down, the citizens really stayed off the streets. Bravo for them!
I feel so bad for the athletes and their fans who were injured,
and for their families and those of them who were killed.
Especially of the children.
The level of the bombs took off so many limbs,
I'll bet most of the injured runners will be back soon, still doing marathons.
Just to show their spirit, if nothing else.
Americans tend to do that, and it's aggravated our enemies in times past.
Just ask Hitler and Osama Bin Laden.
I'm glad to see we still have that response, that sense of being
scrappy, can-do Americans.
Like the Marines who found Saddam Hussein,
or the soldiers in old, gung-ho war movies,
or Scarlett O'Hare lifting her fist to the sky, vowing never to go hungry again.
Those are the people that I fell in love with.

Mark felt sick last night, so he's resting more today. It's thundering and raining right now. (He was sick Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. I'm sick, mildly, now - Wednesday.) I'm saving this to post with pictures, as soon as they're ready. And that catches you up on us!
Here are the pictures from Kattie and Ben's house, with Mary, Allen, and baby Eva, plus baby Ava:

Our anniversary date:
Dinner at Danny and Melinda's:
Alex got up on a stool and entertained us with
a very animated performance of a song
I don't know
At book club, Sis. Hart showed us some
little purses she had made - aren't they cute?
Enlarge this photo, for it's historic;
it actually captures the gorgeous blue of Tut's eyes!
Conference was wonderful, especially Bro. Holland's talk
We went to Ben and Linda's for dinner,
and these are some of the faces Bethany graced us with.
She is reaching out for Mark, of course. : )
I have more pictures to edit and post, but I'll just close
by noting that I got a package in the mail from
Megan, Melinda, and Haley - and I love it!
I'm wearing the super-comfortable slacks right now,
and I also got new makeup and makeup bags,
cute notepads, gummy worms and Lindor chocolate truffles,
and a sweet note.
(I'm sure I'm forgetting something!)
I was so surprised and delighted!
Thank you!
I love you!

I LOVED all the pictures!!! So many good ones, and so many people to see! I especially love that there is a picture of Pam Hart and another one of her purses, and it was neat to see Maria too!
I want to write Pam a letter all about nursing school and the good and the bad... and hopefully she will write back with some advice on how to get through! (By the way, I only missed ONE on my pharmacology test this morning!!!)
It is so fun that Mary Howald and her little family are there in Idaho now too. I bet Kattie loves it!
Tutt should have his own calendar. He sits in the craziest positions!
