A Light at the End of the Tunnel

I'm so excited! Ever since we moved into our home last April, we haven't even unpacked completely - the garage is full of boxes, and thing basically sit where they were sat. It's hard to clean and organize around things this way, and I've been here long enough that I've lost my perspective and I feel overwhelmed. Enter my friend, Bazie. She's my aide, and she comes for 2 hours every week day to help with some things I cannot do. So I finally got up the gumption to ask her to abandon those things and just help me with ideas for one room at a time. I was so grateful when she said yes! She suggested we go through and make a list of what we want to do in each room. This is something I've done before, but I don't have the ideas that truly inspire me to do the work. Bazie was a fount of ideas! We are going to start on some things tomorrow, and it will help me have the oomph to clean what I can, as we're decorating (I always told my girls, "We're not cleaning - we're making it pretty." That was sooo much more motivating! Also, when she can, Haley (my youngest daughter) is coming down here for a day to help me clean. I'm so excited for that, because all of my daughters are MASTER cleaners! Yay! I will be sure and take before and after pictures, so that you can see the changes. And I plan on incorporating all of your good ideas, too, so don't be surprised if you see that I've put them to good use. :) Update on Resolutions: I've really been trying to keep them, because I picked simple ones that I truly wanted to follow. I must say, the "experiment" method I was inspired to think of has been a major influence in any success I've experienced. I've been better about blood sugar testing, although I could improve on it still, and we've had several family home evenings (would have been more, but there were unforseen circumstances - need to have a backup plan). I haven't done so well on writing regular snail-mail letters. Still want to. I'll have to check what the other one was - how's that for goal keeping? I can't even remember what it was! Anyway, that's my progress thus far. Wish me luck on the house, 'cause I'll need it! PS The other resolution was to create glorious windowboxes for our porch railings - and I've been researching that, so I'm fine on that front. Naturally, I picked most of my resolutions from things I enjoy doing (tee hee).

Hello Noodle! I'm glad you're sticking to your resolutions. I still haven't really made any resolutions... I liked C-Jane's blog post, when she talked about her old lady neighbor who is so kind and quiet. It made me want to be like that too!
That'll be sooo nice for you to have your aide help organize the house. Although, it's kind of bad that she's abandoning all of the other cleaning, don't you think? Oh well, it'll still be nice! Okay now I have to get off this computer and go do something with my life!

Hi, Haley! I'll still have the aide help with the regular things on days we aren't working on the house. Thanks for asking! (And do you mind that I mentioned you helping?)

Ahhh! Resolutions. It's always so hard to keep them all year--let alone for a few weeks! I heard the other day that most people drop them during the last week of February, so VERY impressive that you are still working hard at getting them done. Go you! Keep up the hard work!

It's great when you feel fired up and motivated to work on things! The spring in the air helps a lot, too. Good luck and I can't wait to see the before and after pictures!

By the way, thanks for going with me last night to look for stuff for the swap and to see Twilight. I'm so glad we got to see it at the theater again before it leaves. Lots of fun!!
